Walking Through Recovery | Briar’s Story
Briar, a 26-year-old from Armstrong, Missouri and a recent graduate of the Heartland Recovery Program shares his journey from addiction to redemption. Starting with early experiments with alcohol and marijuana, he spiraled into cocaine and meth use, facing prison and losing custody of his children. “I was tired of living in sin and the bondage of my identity in everything else but God.”
Ready for change, he turned to Heartland, realizing the need to reconcile his relationship with Christ. Over the course of his 12-month program, McLain’s life underwent a profound shift. He urges others struggling with addiction to turn to Jesus Christ. That’s what made the difference in his life. “If you need recovery, come to Heartland.”
Are you tired of trying to beat addiction on your own? Reach out today. Through the generosity of donors, we are able to provide a place without charge to men and women looking for freedom and a fresh start.

Harmony & Healing Event
Heartland Recovery co-sponsored “Harmony of Healing: Uniting Hearts in Recovery” on Saturday, April 8, at Heartland Community Church with Broken and Beautiful Women’s Prison Ministry. This event was a celebration of changed lives of people who struggled with addiction and have experienced life-changing transformation through Christ and their prison/recovery experience.
The program included music from Heartland Men’s Recovery graduates, an overview of B&B by director Dave Bonney, alumni testimonies from both ministries, and information about Heartland from Jacob Leckich. Lunch was served in the lobby to provide time to connect with other ministries and guests from probation/parole and those working in the prison systems. It was such a pleasure to meet people who are working on behalf of men and women in recovery, incarcerated, or looking for a fresh start. We look forward to continued friendship and partnership!
