Walking Through Recovery: Brandie’s Story
Brandie acknowledges being so heavily into drugs and alcohol that, “I couldn’t get out of bed without knowing I had a drink waiting for me.” Her addiction led to multiple arrests and she found herself spiraling. Then,
Brandie followed the advice she now gives others, “You have to ask for help.”
“Heartland brought truth to my life, and they knew how to talk me through things,” notes Brandie. “There are people here who have been through the same things.”
And while a 12-month recovery program may seem like a long commitment, we’ve discovered that making lasting changes and recovering from addiction and life-altering issues takes time.
Don’t wait another day. Take the first step to a life of freedom by asking for help.

Recovery Staff Highlights – Brandon Roberts
Once a full-blown heroin addict for 18 years of his life, Brandon acknowledges it was only God that “pulled me out of that depravity.” Today, as an administrative assistant at the Heartland Recovery Program, he works with a team of people helping others find freedom and continues to see that one key to remaining successful is to “understand your inability to do it on your own.”
Brandon’s advice to families who have someone in addiction is, “Act immediately! It’s a matter of life and death.” If you don’t know where to turn, give us a call at 660-213-4553 to see if Heartland Recovery can help.

Walking Through Recovery: Stephen’s Story
When we come to the end of ourselves, where do we find hope?
As a recent graduate of the Heartland Men’s Recovery Program, Stephen shared his experience. “So many times I’ve been staring at a wall, or not willing to come home, or not answering the phone. I felt so hurt by the world and the lies I listened to. Then I come to read the Bible and it’s like I found the cure for cancer.” He encourages others that, “There’s hope, and there’s people who love you. And you never can have done too much for God to separate Himself from you.”
We firmly believe that God can come and heal that broken part of our lives. Share Stephen’s story with someone who needs hope today!

In contrast to a world that bombards us constantly to get our attention, God calls us to be SEEKERS. Event host Darin Rihanek will be talking to us about Kingdom Culture and what it means to “seek first the kingdom of God.”
