Heartland Christian College Missions Fundraisers
Chili Supper.
Heartland Christian College (HCC) students invite the community to join us October 29, 2013 at the Heartland Christian Academy gym from 5:30-7:30pm for a Chili Supper Fundraiser. Proceeds go toward raising money for missions efforts in South Dakota. Donation of $5 for adults / $3 for children 3-10 / FREE for children 2 and under — includes a bowl of chili, one piece of cornbread, and a refillable drink. Chili refills are only $2.
Baked goods of cookies, homemade cinnamon rolls, pumpkin bars, puppy chow, and chocolate covered oreo balls will be available for sale. Entertainment will be provided for children, and we’ll have a cake walk (bring your quarters!). Plus, there will be a baked-goods auction featuring homemade pecan pie, gooey butter cake, and apple dumplings.
Rent-a-Student.
HCC will again be doing Rent-a-Student for missions fundraising, October 1st through November 16th. Students are available to clean houses, babysit, do yard work, hang Christmas lights, or anything else that you might need help with. The students are raising money to support work on the reservations in South Dakota and a Bible College in the Philippines. Rent-a-Student is by donation; there is no set fee; at least 48 hours notice would be helpful for scheduling students for jobs. For information or scheduling, call 660-284-4800.
Students Launch Operation Christmas Child Drive
Heartland Christian Academy students just began distributing shoe boxes for the Operation Christmas Child project (a Samaritan’s Purse event). The campaign ends Sunday, November 17th – their goal is to fill 100 boxes this year. Shoe boxes are available at the HCA office, and more details about the program are available online at the Samaritan’s Purse website.
New Hours at the Mission House
Heartland’s Mission House Thrift Store now has new hours starting October 2013. We are open Thursday 10am-6pm, Friday 10am-4pm, and Saturday 10am-2pm.
Together, we are making a difference. Your donations, purchases, and volunteering all help affect lives around the globe.

Christians Being Persecuted in Egypt
Recent events in the nation of Egypt are alarming, especially for Christians in that nation. The struggle for power by the Muslim Brotherhood has led to what some call “ethnic cleansing” as churches, schools, businesses and homes of Christians are being targeted for looting and burning. Heartland Community Church has been building relationships in that nation for many years, and our friends have been greatly affected by the violence.
Ashraf Ibrahim, a member of our congregation and a citizen of Egypt, gave an overview of the situation in a recent service. Please watch, then pray for our fellow believers and speak out on their behalf.
