Open House 2016 Recap
Our thanks to everyone who attended the annual Heartland Open House on July 1, 2016. We had great weather, and a lot of fun, as guests enjoyed tours, an info expo, games, entertainment, food, and more. The Heartland video crew put together a recap video of the day… hats off to the many volunteers who helped make the day possible.

Baby Bottle Benefit 2016
The Knox County Right to Life Chapter again is sponsoring the “CHANGE 4 CHANGE” Campaign to benefit Genesis House of NE Missouri. LAST YEAR THEY RAISED OVER $5,000! Heartland Community Church is one of the collection points. If you would like to help, pick up a baby bottle at church, use it as a bank to fill with your donations, then return to the church by Father’s Day. The contact person at Heartland is Heather Toro.
100% of the donations for the Change 4 Change campaign will be donated to Genesis House of NE Missouri, located in Edina, MO. The Genesis House is a maternity home for women with no support or place to stay. The goal is to change their lives through a very structured setting. The home setting has 4 levels that include parenting, budgeting, decision making and Bible study; as well as responsibilities of chores in the home. Much renovation has been done on the house by contractors, many hours of volunteer help, fundraisers held by a host of supporters and donations from individuals and organizations.
If you would like to learn more about Genesis House, the address is www.genesishouse2.org and if you would like to send a donation directly, mail to: Genesis House of Northeast Missouri – PO Box 86 – Edina, MO 63537.
Honoring Mothers
We think moms are pretty special. Below is a Mother’s Day video tribute from Heartland Community Church members taking the opportunity to honor women who have shaped their lives. Plus, this article from our bulletin yesterday (by Kathy Nickerson) reminds us to hug a mother.
Genesis 1:27 – “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
I’ve heard Pastor Charlie say that once he’s been in Heaven for about ten-thousand years, hugging the feet of Jesus, he plans to finally look up and say, “I wonder if I could see my mother.”
I’m afraid I might ask to see my mother a little sooner than that. And, I think Jesus would understand. Some of the last words He spoke on earth were about His own mother. This bond is something supernatural; something created by God. He didn’t make Eve out of flowers and stardust, you know. The first mother of mankind came from the very substance of God Himself. She was made in His image. God had motherhood in His nature and He put it into Eve.
This is a mystery and much more theology than I can explain. But, I know this: God is at the heart of every true expression of motherhood. So, reach out and hug a mother today. If yours isn’t nearby, borrow one.
And, if your mom isn’t able to express the heart of God through motherhood yet, maybe the best gift you could give her today is your forgiveness.

Missions Conference Recap
Heartland Community Church was blessed to host pastors, leaders, and missionaries from many countries around the globe. The Church tv crew pulled together some of the highlights of the Missions Conference for our Wednesday night service, to remind us of our own “Here I Am” moments during the week.
