Happy Father’s Day

From our church bulletin this morning…

Our Good, Good Father

by Kathy Nickerson

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:7 NKJV

If you want to see me dissolve into a puddle, just let our worship team launch into that “Good Father” song by Chris Tomlin. No matter what is happening in my life, this song touches the heart of it. God is my Father, and He is good. He isn’t good because of what He does. “Good” is the stuff God is made of.

As a teenager, I grabbed hold of this verse about there being “no shadow of turning” in God. No change. No shifting. During those years, I couldn’t even trust my own emotions to remain stable for five minutes at a time. Yet, God would never, ever change. Not one tiny bit.

I found such comfort in those words. They have held me for almost fifty years, through mountains high and valleys low. (Another great song. Thank you, Kari Jobe.) No matter how wonderful our earthy fathers are, they may fail us. They will leave us, if not through abandonment, eventually through death.

But, the Father of lights will never change. He is always with us, and He is good. That makes this a Happy Father’s Day for all of us.

Let’s thank Him.

SPANISH VERSION

Nuestro Padre Bueno Bueno

For our annual Friends of the College Banquet, some of our students shared how their lives have been impacted this year at Heartland Christian College.

We are grateful to all of our “Friends of the College” for your support each year. Providing affordable, quality, biblical education requires a wide community of friends. At HCC, our desire is to be able to lay a strong biblical foundation into a generation, no matter where they may end up. Our goal is to help produce strong men and women of God, who are life-long disciples of Jesus Christ, and who “minister” whether they are construction workers, police officers, doctor, pastors, or great moms and dads. Students who are prepared for life and able to make difference.

National Day of Prayer

Join Us at Heartland as We Observe the National Day of Prayer, May 4th

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for our nation. As a church, we plan to meet at the HCC Legacy Building, Upper Commons, from 12:15-12:35pm on Thursday, May 4th.

The National Day of Prayer belongs to all Americans and is a day that transcends differences, bringing together citizens to celebrate our most beloved freedom; the freedom to humbly come before God and seek His guidance in prayer. The Theme for 2017 is For Your Great Name’s Sake! Hear Us… Forgive Us…Heal Us! and is based on Daniel 9:29 which says, “O Lord, hear. O Lord, forgive. O Lord, listen and act! For your own sake, do not delay, O my God, for your people and your city bear your name.”

We remember today the price that was paid, the Hope that was given, and the resurrecting power of God. That in God’s mercy He didn’t leave us.

April 2017 ENewsletter

Our monthly e-newsletter is a forum we use to share some of the things that God is doing in the lives of men and women in the Heartland community, along with some of the other happenings at Heartland.

This month’s edition features an introduction to our new senior pastor at Heartland Community Church, Kris R. Palmer, pictured here with his wife Martha, along with their children and grandchildren. Kris and Martha would not want us to hold their family up as something perfect. They have all the typical issues and problems families face. But, they are a family living in the Hope of God, and they want to pass that hope along to others.
