Church Ground Breaking Report

Heartland Community Church near Bethel, Missouri, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Pastor Kris Palmer led the ceremony and was joined on the platform by members of the Heartland Executive Council. Special guests included pastors from area churches, local and state officials, members of the press, representatives from the construction firm, family members, and friends. Heartland Christian Academy headmaster, Shabaka Williams, read a framed proclamation sent from the Missouri Senate, initiated by Senator Brian Munzlinger.

Following music, remarks, and prayer, Laurie Sharpe took her place in a large backhoe provided by Luby Equipment Services, of Quincy, IL and dug the first scoopful of earth for the much-anticipated project. Pastor Kris and Martha Palmer then led the families of the church in turning over scoops of dirt with shovels they had brought from home. The GPS Children’s Church provided plastic shovels for all the children.

The project is being supervised by Brown Church Development of Kearny, NB. They anticipate the building will take more than a year to complete. The new church will feature a sanctuary, offices, prayer rooms, and a large foyer for fellowship. It will be attached to the current Heartland Christian Academy building where children’s classes will be held.

Heartland Community Church is located on Route E between Bethel and Newark, Missouri. Services are held on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am, with Sunday School at 9:00 am, Sunday night at 6:00pm, and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. Guests are always welcome to attend. We also offer livestream of our services at www.hland.tv, or via our Facebook page.

We had a great trip to India. This trip was about relationships. We took our first trip to India in 2010 with Pastor Charlie. Since then we’ve been to India 6 times and each time our relationship with Paul and Michael has deepened and we’ve added new friends like Amit, Eldho, and Simon. Through them we’ve been able to encourage thousands of pastors in India.
