The vision for building a city of refuge started with businessman and founder Charles Sharpe. As he drove across his Missouri farmland one day, God began to speak to him about a place where people could find help and hope and grow in Christ. That vision has grown into a Christian community built around a local church—people working side by side throughout the years to provide just that.
Charlie and Laurie Sharpe weren’t alone in their call to build community. Hundreds of people have come and gone throughout the years to participate in what God was doing at Heartland. That continues all these years later as we gathered to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We’re grateful for all of the men and women of Heartland who help the work of CNS International Ministries continue, as well as the alumni and friends from the surrounding communities and beyond who showed up for this celebration.
