RESPITE HOUSE PARENTS

Heartland Children & Youth Home (HCYH) seeks Christian, husband and wife couples as Respite House Parents who serve a critical role in shepherding and guiding the residents God brings to HYCH. Many of these children come from broken families and various situations that necessitate Respite House Parents to possess patience, self-control, and conflict de-escalation skills. While the House Parents serve as the primary direct supervisor of the residents, the Respite House Parents provide a welcomed rest for both the House Parents and the residents. Respite House Parents provide the same care, supervision, and instruction as the House Parents according to the mission statement, goals, and core values of HCYH. Respite for the House Parents is five days a month, and the Respite House Parents will bring the residents into their homes for that time and assume full responsibility for residents, which includes persistent and active involvement in the resident’s physical, academic, physiological, and spiritual development, until the House Parents return. Respite House Parents must possess a heart to serve and help children. This position is also importantly concerned with communicating the nature of the Gospel to students and facilitating their spiritual growth toward a walking, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.
Employment Benefits Package
- Sign on bonus: $3,000 per couple after 90 days of successful employment.
- Annual salary: $41,080 per person; paid biweekly.
- Housing, Utilities, and Food: Housing, Food and Utilities are provided at no-cost/full benefit to the House Parents with private, in-house living area.
- Community Life: Living and serving in an intentional, Christian community centered around a local church.
- Paid Sick Leave: Awarded annually per calendar year.
- Paid Personal Time Off: Awarded upon hire date, and each 1-year anniversary thereafter, in the amounts described in employee handbook.

Physical Requirements:
- Extensive standing. Extensive walking. Extensive movement (i.e., bending, squatting, turning, etc.). Working in/outdoors. Working extended hours. Being able to lift 25 lbs.
- Being able to climb stairs.
Minimal Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Previous experience in Youth Ministry or Children related service (preferred)
- Class E driver’s license (required)

HEARTLAND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
JR/SR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER

This position holds the responsibility of educating and caring for junior high and senior high school students (i.e., grades 6-12). Teachers holding this position are expected to exhibit a proficient and discreet understanding of specific subject and content areas, practically able to provide students with meaningful and effective instruction from a Biblical worldview. Teaching a junior high or high school class includes planning, implementing and assessing lessons. It also includes the development and management of a positive and healthy classroom environment, which promotes learning as well as the social, physical, and/or spiritual growth of every student.
Physical Requirements:
- Teaching and interacting with students may include standing for extended periods of time, as well as frequent walking and other movement (i.e. bending, squatting, etc.).
- Normal occupational stress related to working with adolescents and young adults.
- Working extended hours to satisfy job requirements related to teaching.
- Working indoors primarily; working outdoors during select seasons of the year.
Minimal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field (preferred)
- Continuing education or annual professional development (required)
- Previous experience in education (preferred)
- Class E driver’s license (required)
