If you plan to visit the Heartland Community this summer, please be aware that there are two bridges east of Newark, Missouri which are closed while being worked on. Detours are marked (gravel roads) so be aware of that before you travel. Details and updates are available on the MoDOT website: News & Updates.

  • For gravel detour: (From Ewing on Highway 6) – Turn south onto Highway 156 until Route D. Turn left (south) on 273; turn right on 242 which will bring you back to Highway 156. Stay on Heartland Drive (Hwy E) for about 4 miles and turn right (west) on the road leading to a water tower with Heartland written on it and a cross on top of it.
  • Paved roads only detour: (From Ewing) continue on Highway 6 to Knox City. Turn left (south) onto Route E to Highway 156.
